The Course Center

In an area rich on lakes and forests, 65 km north-east of Växjö, Höghultström Retreat Center is located near a nature reservate. The yoga room with its view over the stream holds space for 20 participants. The old mill house at the waterfall was renovated 2004 and now contains comfortable guest rooms with 2, 3 or 4 beds. Single rooms can in some cases be booked. Beside the sauna at the water front is a sweat lodge.

By means of a new turbine the waterfall now provides several households with green electricity which saves nature from an outlet of 96 tons carbon dioxid every year. Our houses are heated with electricity directly from the turbine and with woodburning stoves.

Organically grown vegetables mix with flowers in the vegetable garden and in the greenhouse. A great deal of the vegetables is kept throughout the winter without the use of energy in the old, newly renovated outdoor earth cellar. Bee-keeping is an important part of the cycle at Ananda Mandala, as the bees pollinate the fruit trees and flowers. A jar of honey could be a suitable souvenier from the retreat.

In order to burden nature as little as possible, we use only organic products within all areas. Therefore we ask everybody only to bring strictly certified environmentally friendly skin products etc. Or you can buy your tooth paste, shampoo, skin oil and lotion, lip balm, sun oil and mosquito repellent here.
